The Human Resources Administration and Department of Social Services is a part of The City of New York. In addition, the Human Resources Administration and Department of Social Services assists in adult protective, domestic violence and child support enforcement. The department provides various training and job programs to help people gain employment. It administers the Begin Employment, Gain Independence Now (BEGIN) program, which focuses on improving basic skills and English proficiency. The department includes a family independence administration that coordinates food stamp program and job center operations.
