The Humane Society's Maryland Heights branch was founded after a large 1974 donation. The waiting room is typical of most veterinary clinics, with a well-staffed front desk. The facility can hold between 350 and 450 animals, and includes a full-service adoption center. Its veterinary medical center, which is open to the public, is one of the few centers in the country accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
The Animal House Fund is a non-profit organization for animal rescue. This group takes in stray cats, helps cat owners with low cost spaying, helps people with food assistance for their animal and also works with trapping feral cats for spaying and neutering. There are always cats ready for adoption for a reasonable fee and donations are always appreciated.
