Constitution Inn YMCA is a great neighborhood gym located near the USS Constitution Memorial Site. The gym is connected to the Constitution Inn but the YMCA also has its own entrance on the south side of the building.
Boston Minuteman Council is the head of the Boy Scouts of America Organization in Massachusetts. Boys learn leadership skills by earning badges and completing activities individually and as a group. Boston Minuteman Council's offices are located on Unquity Road.
The Cape Cod YMCA's main office is in West Barnstable, however there are satellite branches in Sandwich and Harwich. It offers a diverse range of classes and programming to meet the needs of children, youth, teens, adults and seniors. These programs include childcare, pre-school, intramural and league sports, aquatics, educational and fun clubs, exercise and wellness programs and family programs.
The shop is located in the Egan Center and offers items for scouts and scout enthusiasts including uniforms, camping equipment and patches.
Girl Scouts United States has been around since 1912, but the unique Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts was formed in 2008 by a merge of Patriots Trail Girl Scouts, Spar and Spindel Girl Scouts, and Girl Scouts of South Eastern Massachusetts. Together as Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, they believe "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place" and a better community. This great youth group serves 45,000 girls ages 5-17 and 17,000 adult volunteers in the 178 communities in Eastern Massachusetts alone.
The Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth can be found in the Industrial Park across from the Old Colony Place Mall. The club's mission statement is "We instill in our members a sense of belonging, a sense of usefulnes, a sense of competence and a sense of upward influence in their club." Some programs the club sponsors include sports, fitness, nutrition, music, social activity, music photography and so much more. The Hyannis Youth & Community Center is a brand new facility built in 2009 for year-round community recreation. It houses two ice skating rinks for skating and hockey programs, two basketball/volleyball courts, a skateboard park, walking track, teen game room and cafe.
The recreation department has its office inside the center. Recreation provides a variety of youth and adult leisure programs to Barnstable residents. Whether it's golf, swimming at one of the town beaches or ice skating at the Hyannis Youth Community Center, the recreation division is constantly assessing its programming and creating new affordable programs to meet the public's needs.
It also provides permits for town athletic fields and community buildings, monitors public safety at beaches, and issues beach stickers and parking permits for residents throughout the busy summer season.
