North Central State Airport is located at the end of Albion Road. This is the upper region of the state and horizontally centered, which is why it is called "North Central". The airport is a well-known, popular general avaiation airport that was open for use in 1951. It is a owned by the State of Rhode Island, opened for service in 1951. It was initially created to serve as a reliever airport for general aviation activity from TF Greene Airport, as well as a repair base and a base for private pilots. Due to the size of the runways, North Central serves the larger airlines only in the case of an emergency. North Central offers two well-paved, long runways and excellent nighttime lighting.
